spotlight. >> people are still talking about president clinton's speech in charlotte last night. kristin fisher is live in our satellite center with the latest on the democratic national convention. good morning, kristin. >> reporter: good morning. bill clinton was classic clinton last night. he ignored the teleprompter, improvised lines and even though he did take the stage earlier than expected, he still ran late. he delivered a 48-minute long prime time speech, a speech that was longer than his infamous convention keynote address in 1988 but the delegates loved it. >> no president, no president, not me, not any of my spread sorors, no one could have fully repaired all the damage that he found in just four years. when congressman ryan looked into that tv camera and attacked president obama's medicare savings as, quote, the

rehabilitated. >> they lack a lot of socialization, they're sometimes a little less confident but they can be placed after some rehabilitation here, some hand feeding, working with our volunteers, going out for walks, doing the things normal pets do. >> right now the suspected ring leader is only facing charges of being an unfit pet owner but more charges could be added. montgomery county police are releasing a picture of one of three people they say is behind vandalism and theft in the damascus area. this is one of the two suspects police believe stole things from cars. the suspect would try to find unlocked car doors. this happened last week in the plantation's two neighborhood. anyone with information should call montgomery county police. rebuilding the holy acres community in woodbridge, virginia is now on the fast- track. nearly a dozen families will move back in soon thanks to a big round of help from volunteers. people from project mend a house rehabbed some of the

mobile homes wednesday. holy acres you may remember was nearly wiped off the map during tropical storm lee last year. it is 6:06. jessica doyle is watching your money and your jobs. >> talk about the presidential election is all about jobs. the unemployment report is coming out. what would you expect? >> probablyemployers probably added about 120,000 jobs. it would keep the current rate at 8.3%. roughly 12.8 million americans remain unemployed. the august jobs report also critical one since the federal reserve meets less than a week later focusing in on the state of the job market. but some occupations are doing very, very well right now. according to our partners at career builder, job listings are up 74% year over year for software engineers. you can thank all the smart devices and the internet. customer service representatives have seen a 50% increase in job listings.

rounding out the top five, social media managers up 48%. truck drivers are up 45%. that's thanks to an uptick in manufacturing activity. also pharmacy technicians. they saw a jump of 43%. on the campaign trail,a lot lot of folks are -- a lot of folks are asking the question how are your finances doing compared to four years ago? cnn reports that as a nation we're making less. the median household income four years ago $55,000 a year. right now it's $51,000. a smaller income, that means less money to put aside for a rainy day of course so it makes sense. americans are also saving less money. when president obama took officer, the savings rate was more than 6%. the most recent data shows that's dropped to a little more than 4% today. of course there are a lot of ways you can slice and dice the economy, but these are just focusing in on some of the important things that make our finances work or not work. >> exactly. >> thanks, jess. >> you've got it. our time is 6:08.

traffic. we do have a problem on the beltway west side of town. it's slowing you down on the inner loop if you're trying to get up toward the georgetown pike. let me just show you what it looks like on our traffic land camera on the northbound side of hien 95 -- i-95. a broken down trailer on the right side of the road. you have delays pretty solid trying to get there. inner loop that's northbound 495 just after the georgetown pike here on the west side of the beltway. i'll keep you posted on that situation and what they're doing about it as well. let's go back over to our maps this time to 270. southbound side, no issues as you head down from frederick. you just have the slow traffic into clarksburg. once you're in germantown it will be a lot better heading toward rockville and the point where the lanes divide. slowing down college park into silver spring. here's what it looks like in college park. you don't really hit that delay until the 95 interchange. i'll be back with more task coming up at 6:43.

good morning. >> reporter: good morning. of course bill clinton was the big star. he delivered a 48-minute long, a very long speech. but one thing he did not talk much about was women's rights issues like abortion and equal pay, pay discrimination. so he left that to speakers like marilyn -- maryland senator barbra mikulski and sandra fluke, the georgetown university law student who was shut out from a congressional hearing on contraception just earlier this year. >> during this campaign we've heard about two profoundly different futures that could await women in this country. and how one of those futures looks like an offensive, obsolete relic of our past. >> those republicans in the senate tried to block our efforts to go further and end pay discrimination once and for all. but hey, we, the women, of the senate with president obama by our side, we're going to keep

fighting. our shoulders flair because you deserve equal pay for your hard work. >> the democrats clearly courting women voters trying to exploit the republican party's so-called war against women. no surprise there. there was one very surprising unscripted moment, a rare thing at modern political conventions. the democrats actually struggled to complete a voice vote amending their party platform. the platform to include language referring to god and to jerusalem as i.r.s.'s capital. so it -- as israel's capital. it was a very unusual dissent but they had bill clinton to bring them all back together at the end ever the night and dejust -- of the night and he did just that. quite a speech he gave and tonight the big moment everybody has been waiting for. president obama. she be taking the stage right around 10:00. >> kristin fisher live in our satellite center this morning. the secret service is looking into a man's claim he

stole mitt romney's federal tax records. a tennessee newspaper received the claim and the demand for $1 million to not release the records. romney's accounting firm says there's no evidence the files were stolen. ann romney will be campaigning for her husband tomorrow in virginia. she'll hold a women for mitt rally in leesburg. mrs. romney held a similar rally in ohio yesterday. it was the second visit to that swing state after the republican convention last week. elderly women from fairfax county is recovering after she was attacked by a rabid beaver. the animal attacked the 83-year- old woman along the shoreline of lake barkroft on tuesday night. two fishermen saw the whole thing take place and they rushed over and killed the beaver with their paddles and pulled the woman to safety. people we spoke to were surprised because beaver attacks are pretty rare. >> beavers usually don't want to have anything to do with you when you encounter them. they swim the other way. >> the victim was identified as

radar over the past few hours, you'll notice the showers north and west of us. this stuff is so light, a lot of it is not reaching the ground but south and west of town, this is where we're starting to see some light showers into fauquier county. you head down into rapahannock and culpeper county, this is where we're starting to pick up more showers, especially west and southwest of culpeper. even a little lightning starting to show up. this stuff is moving east, northeast. sperryville, aim missville, culpeper. this guy will come right that way toward you over the next half-hour. on the eastern shore, the stuff that was near easton and denton is into delaware with a little bit of lightning as well. other than that, it's just a mild and muggy morning. 75 in easton. it's 75 also in baltimore. out to the west shenandoah valley low 70s there. even cumberland is at 70. as we look outside on our michael & son weather cam here in tysons corner, we've got some breaks in the cloud cover. cloudy to mostly cloudy sky. reagan national reporting 78 degrees on the hour with the clouds with a heat index of 81.

thanks to the dew point in the 70s and humidity 84%. so a batch of showers really stretches out from albany back through pennsylvania, down toward even tennessee. this will be coming through this morning over the next few hours. then behind it when we turn sunnier, there's a slim chance for an afternoon storm today and tomorrow, but by saturday strong cold front comes this way. that's going to change the pattern big time. 92 this afternoon. just a stray afternoon storm. a couple of showers this morning. tonight we're back in the low to mid-70s, a patch of fog, maybe upper 60s north and west with light winds of the tomorrow 92 degrees. again a sunny day with a stray afternoon storm. but saturday mid-80s. afternoon and evening showers, some thunderstorms. by sunday, though, the front is through. it's going to be fantastic sunday, monday and tuesday, even into weld as we creep back up -- wednesday as we creep back up into the 70s. nighttime lows in the 50s. 60s in town. 6:46. starting tonight the maryland department of agriculture is stepping up its fight when it comes to west nile virus.

>> it will begin spraying to kill mosquitoes in some neighborhoods having problems with the bugs. over the next week, there will be extra spraying in the marley section of anne arundel county as well as in the milford area, baltimore county. ed payne reports west nile cases are spiking around the country. glb 70% of the cases are in six states. texas is the harmdzest hits. the -- hardest hit. the state it battling the source, mosquitoes by ground and by air. they trapped a second mosquito that tested positive for west nile. that's helped city crews focus efforts on specific areas in a bid to wipe out mosquito breeding grounds. >> it is the vipghtor, the -- victor, the mosquito. it bites a human and pass it is on to a human. without the mosquito, you break that chain. >> reporter: the virus nearly killed dr. don reed of dallas seven years ago. he was paralyzed and had to
